I've been a small town photographer here in Arcata, California, Humboldt County since the year 2000.
Voice in my head "Really? Has it been that long? And I thought there'd be flying cars by now."
Post-it note on my desk: Time to get serious and finish that great American novel, travel, see the world.
Get serious? I don't think so.
Sometimes I feel like George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life. I'll probably never get outta this place, and, when it comes right down to it, why would I want to? My life is here, in this town, between these redwoods and this ocean. Among these people. I keep finding Zuzu's petals in my pocket.
I'm grateful to this community that has supported me, and I try to give back with the best I got through little gifts made up of pictures. I've photographed, I guess, probably thousands of people. In weddings, on ball fields, during forest walks, and warm or foggy evenings at the beach watching the sun go down. Many of these folks are your relatives, friends and neighbors. Call or email me if you want and we can plan a photo session to capture a picture of your life. -Paul
